President Raisi of Iran is Dead, Now What?

Iranian President Raisi died in a helicopter crash, along with the country’s foreign prime minister. This isn’t really sad news, considering Raisi was dubbed the “Butcher of Tehran.” However, there is something to be said about the enemy you know versus the enemy you don’t know.

The country has already appointed an “acting President” by the name of Mohammad Mokhber. He’s been the country’s vice president for the past three years, but we really don’t know much about him.

We know he’s 68, holds a doctorate in international law, and had been the chief executive of Setad prior to being appointed VP. Setad, by the way, was responsible for developing a vaccine during the COVID pandemic, but it failed in every way possible, leaving most Iranians to be vaccinated with a Chinese-produced vaccine instead.

Iran will be under Mokhber’s leadership for now, but an election will need to take place within the next 50 days, according to the country’s constitution. So, we could see Mokhber continue or we could see someone else entirely.

Regardless, this is sure to spice things up in the Middle East – not exactly what the area needs right now.

Liberals Demand We All Start Taking Cold Showers

In a new piece from the Washington Post, contributor Allyson Chiu joins the parade of fellow liberals calling for Americans to make a huge shift in their cleaning habits. Specifically, she wants us to start using cold water for essentially everything. She claims that hot water accounts for 10% of the average American energy bill, and her data lists that translating into 64 gallons of water per day per household.

With showering making up for 17% of water use in American homes according to Chiu’s figures, she alleges this is where we can save significant energy. Now, claiming half of the hot water we use goes towards showering, she bounces around her figures and statistics as she cherry-picks for sensationalist figures. Glossing over alternatives like tankless water heaters or solar showers, she instead jumps headfirst into the idea of showering in cold water.
