Former Uvalde School Police Chief Gets Indicted

When the school shooting happened in Uvalde, Texas, many of us watched, horrified, and wondered how it was possible that the shooting went on for that long. Why wasn’t anything happening? Why were the police officers staying on the outside?

Now, the former Uvalide school police chief has had to face the music. Pete Arredondo has been charged with 10 counts of “abandoning and endangering” the children at Robb Elementary.

Adrian Gonzales was a former Ulvalude school police officer who was also charged – him with 19 indictments, one for each child who was killed.

Planning on Fireworks for the 4th?

The National Safety Council is the first to say that if you love fireworks, you should leave it to the professionals. Find out where there are going to be fireworks displays in your community. Bring a blanket or some folding chairs and watch them from afar.

If they ARE legal where you live and you’re going to buy them, there are a few tips to follow:

  • Don’t let kids handle the fireworks

  • Protective eyewear should be worn

  • A bucket of water should be kept nearby.

Be sure you’re also a distance away from your home (and anyone else’s home) before you set them off. Enjoy celebrating the 4th but be careful!
