This is probably everyone’s worst nightmare when they go into the hospital: the surgeons mess up. What happened to an Alabama man when he went to Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital in Destin is completely unforgivable, and he died as a result of the “oops.”
William Bryan went into the hospital with a few medical problems. It was quickly identified that his spleen needed to be removed.
While Bryan was going to go back to his hospital in Alabama, the Florida hospital convinced him to stay and have the surgery there. Big mistake.
The surgeon removed his liver instead of the spleen. It caused “immediate and catastrophic blood loss resulting in death.”
Needless to say, the family has hired a lawyer to sue the hospital.
